Chiropractic celebrates 100 years as a drugless, natural, non-invasive approach to regaining health and relief of discomfort.  Millions of people are turning to chiropractors as their primary health care providers and, in turn, shaking off dependency on drugs for temporary relief of symptoms.  Chiropractors achieve their enormous beneficial results by finding and removing an entity called a “vertebral subluxation” which occurs within the spine.  A vertebral subluxation is a misalignment of a vertebrae which causes interference with the normal transmission of nerve signals to the body.  Like food, water and oxygen, nerve energy is one of four essentials to health.  Any decrease in normal quantity or quality of these essentials results in a decreased health potential.  Because the nervous system controls every function of the human body, when nerve signals are distorted by a subluxation, a lack of ease or “dis-ease” in normal tissue may result.  Therefore, maintaining a subluxation-free spine is also an essential to health.  A Chiropractor is the only health care provider trained to keep clear and proper nerve signals flowing throughout the body.

Typical chiropractors remove these subluxations by manually “adjusting them back into place restoring ease in the tissues and thus creating health.”  Traditional chiropractic adjustments use specific lines of correction using only their hands.  It is the specificity which separates a chiropractic “adjustment” from an unspecific term known as “manipulation.”  Still, both seem to be personified by the general public as a twisting and cracking of the neck and back, of which many people are very leery.  Fortunately, there is now an alternative to these traditional chiropractic methods which affords all the benefits of chiropractic care with a state-of-the-art advancement which eliminates the need for manipulation.  The procedure is called ATLAS ORTHOGONAL CHIROPRACTIC and it is taking chiropractic health care into the 21st century.

Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic works on the premise that if a person’s skull is sitting off the center of the body, its center of gravity will be altered.  This will cause the entire spine underneath it to shift in compensation.  By getting the head to sit properly on the first cervical vertebrae (named the “Atlas”), the spine will regain its normal vertical position.  The Atlas will then be Orthogonal (or 90 degrees) to the spine.

The Atlas Orthogonist will reposition the skull onto the neck by adjusting the Atlas with a highly scientific percussion instrument.  They do this by carefully analyzing specific films which may show altered alignment and abnormal biomechanics of the cervical spine.  The doctor will calculate the vector’s and create a specific line of drive for each individual’s needs which are plugged into the Atlas Orthogonal percussion instrument.  The instrument is then used to deliver a 3-6 pound pulse of pressure which globally realigns the entire spine.  There is no turning or twisting of the neck and the patient feels nothing!  The procedure is completely painless and takes only seconds.  Symptoms throughout the body can be attributed to this head misalignment, such as low back, hip and knee pain, sciatica, mid-back pain, shoulder tension, arm pain and various degrees of numbness.  Other complaints which may also find resolution with Atlas Orthogonal care are fibromyalgia, migraines, allergies, insomnia, high blood pressure, panic attacks, headaches, and dizziness.

A number of things can cause a person’s skull to become displaced, the most obvious being physical trauma (i.e. an auto accident).  Other factors include emotional stress, chemical trauma (poor diet, car fumes, medication, etc.), sleeping on stomach, and poor posture.  The head being knocked from the center of gravity could originate as early as birth.

A skull misalignment may lay dormant for years at a time, like a cavity until a point when the body starts to exhibit symptoms.  By correcting the improper head position, pressure will be taken off the nervous system.  The body will then be more able to heal itself and become symptom-free.  Chiropractic is not for the few, but for the masses.  See an Atlas Orthogonist near you and see if your head is on straight.

“If you have a spine, it should be in line.”  What spine isn’t worth checking?
